We are so very thankful to our clients for all of the wonderful referrals and accolades since opening our doors in 2005. Over the last decade The Mutt Hutt has grown substantially from the referrals. As a result it has become more difficult for us to accommodate overnight stay requests for dogs who do not frequent our facility for daycare. We are no longer a drop-in boarding facility and do require dogs to attend daycare and stay familiar with the facility. It is very important for dog owners to understand the importance of keeping your dog familiar with our facility and not drop in casually a few times a year for boarding-only stays.
We are the only facility in Greater Cleveland to offer cage-free, supervised overnights for your dogs. This means your dog is not caged or put in a kennel unless you have requested for us to do so or we determine your dog needs down time to sleep and relax. As a result of our success offering a cage-free experience, there is limit to the number of dogs we accept for overnight stays. To stay as an overnight guest, your dog must be enrolled and completed our evaluation process.
We highly recommend that you make a reservation for your dog to come play at least once a month (if not more) so that they are comfortable staying here and our staff knows your dog. We highly recommend and with some dogs require them to attend daycare one or two visits per month to stay familiar with the facility and for our staff to know your dog. We require that any dog who has not been in our facility for daycare or a boarding stay in the last 180 days (six months) is subject to a re-evaluation. Please keep in mind this policy is to insure your dog is comfortable at our facility and our staff knows your dog prior to boarding them.
Enrollment is required for all dogs attending daycare or overnight stays. To enroll your dog you must fill out the enrollment forms provided on-line and your dog must be approved after an on-site evaluation. There is a $20 fee (per dog) which includes a full-day of daycare the day of the evaluation. Your dog must stay through our peak check-out hours to complete our evaluation process.
Evaluations are done by appointment only and we limit the number of new dogs we take in each day. Please call ahead to make your evaluation appointment. We are often booked a week in advance. Once you have completed the forms, and obtained the shot records from your vet, call 216.621.6888 to schedule the evaluation.
If you are having your dog evaluated and plan to board them shortly thereafter, please be advised that not all dogs are comfortable on their first visit and we will then require additional visits prior to boarding. You may want to have a back-up plan in place. Please allow about two weeks to schedule the evaluation appointment, especially in the summer months and major holidays. We need as much time as possible to evaluate your dog prior to them staying overnight with us. This gives your dog enough time to get to know our facility and staff should they need another visit or two prior to their overnight stay. It is very important to us that your dog enjoys their time at The Mutt Hutt.
At The Mutt Hutt we provide home-like, safe and secure overnight accommodations for your dog inside our facility. We are 100% cage-free and staff-supervised day and night. Your pet will be supervised during their entire stay by our staff of professional Pack Leaders.
When your dog sleeps over the stay includes daycare – you may check your dog in the day of your dogs arrival as early as 7:00 AM on weekdays and 8 am on Saturday. We do not allow Sunday check-ins. All guests must check in by 10 AM. Check out is 12:00 PM the day of departure. If you need a later check out hourly daycare fees are applied for the additional daycare time. Please read through our overnight stay policies prior to enrolling your dog.
We will provide bowls for meals, dog beds, blankets and a quiet atmosphere. We ask that you please bring enough food for your dog’s entire stay with us and a little extra just in case your plans change or are delayed. You may also bring their own treats, but please keep blankets, beds, bowls, and toys at home as we have plenty to go around. We are cage-free but can provide crates and fenced-in areas to keep dogs alone or with their pack mates so they can rest if needed or requested. Dogs that stay five days or more will receive a free Mutt-Wash on their departure date. All dogs must check in by 10 AM to help balance the energy levels of the entire pack and preserve the safety of the dogs in our care.
Because we are cage-free and staff-supervised we tend to book up quickly. For most major holidays we are booked 8 weeks in advance and then work off a waiting list. Please plan accordingly and call us as soon as you know your travel plans. We prefer to evaluate your dog at least two weeks in advance of booking an overnight stay. That way if we request that your dog needs an additional daycare visit there is time to accommodate that request.
In addition to offering “Baby on Board” service, we are happy to offer “Labor Boarding” for existing clients who are expectant parents. All you need to do is let our front desk staff know when the baby is due and you will have access to check your dog into during regular business hours. Once the baby is born feel free to use our “Baby on Board” service and call us from the parking lot and one of our Pack Leaders will be happy to assist getting your dog into our facility or back to your car at the end of their stay. Please note your dog(s) must be leashed and controlled so we can remove them from the car safely. Please be patient with us, too! It’s always helpful to let us know in advance that you will need this service. This is for parents with children 3 years or younger in car seats only.
